Thursday 21 March 2013 - Clever lectures

I have noticed there is a major difference in the lecturing style of my educators this semester.

The chemistry lecturer oozes enthusiasm for the subject matter and I've yet to see her make it through the hour without the phrase "Isn't chemistry fun!" bubbling out of her mouth at least once, as though those words are her involuntary reaction to the subject matter. This enthusiasm is contagious and I'll admit that the last few times she's said it I've found myself involuntarily nodding my head in agreement.

Most recently she turned to Youtube to help us understand the concept of chemical bonds between atoms, and this is what we were treated to:

Similarly our lecturer for the subject of psychology is an expert in entertainment; though it's the frequent use of dry and sarcastic humour while delving into some pretty heavy subject matter that makes the lesson so enjoyable. He too shared with us a gem of a Youtube video when we discussed Freud's theory of our ID, Ego and Superego.

In stark contrast to these two the lecturer for Systemic Anatomy (for which we're supposed to sit through three lecture hours on the subject in one day!) sits behind his laptop, reading from the lecture slides and notes before him in a monotonous drawl that creates the perfect hum of white noise for people to fall asleep (and students have).

I'm struggling with the subject matter for this reason so turned to Youtube myself to see what I could find to bring the subject of anatomy to life.

I should be the lecturer for this class. Maybe I should email this to him with some feedback?!
