I was listening to a great song on the radio today and I found myself really passionately shouting out the chorus lyric "What do I stand for?" as it was played. With the car windows down and the volume up. Because that's how I roll.
I think I got so worked up because it's such an important question that the songwriter asks himself. And one that everybody needs to consider at some point in their life. A quote I've heard in my younger years that has stuck with me is that "If you don't stand for something you'll fall for anything" and I believe that to be true.
It's easy to go along with others, follow trends or be influenced by the media when it comes to what you stand for in life. Especially if you haven't figured out what that is yet.
It's taken me a long time to get there but today when the song played and I shouted the question aloud I knew the answers. All of the things that I actively care about immediately came to mind. And it felt so good to be sure about them.
And because I'm also sure that Glee is awesome I'll let them sing it for you. In a voice much better than mine.
