You know what I love about running? Carbo loading.
Somehow in the massive frenzy of carb-hating diets out there we have come to believe that weight gain personified would be a giant piece of spiral pasta wearing a suit made of bread.
I love bread and pasta.
And I think it's great that in the interests of fuelling your body for a long run we're encouraged to consume a lot of them.
For dinner on the night before my half marathon race day I ate wholemeal spiral pasta with homemade cheese sauce and vegetables AND melted cheese, olives and sundried tomatoes on toasted sandwhich thins. It was awesome.
I didn't gain any weight and I ran like the wind.
Maybe it's time we make the new bad guy in the weight gain world a combination of carbo loading and inactivity.
Like a couch potato!
