Tuesday 2 April 2013 - Sobering thought

Scanning the newsagent shelves for something different to read over coffee the other day the cover of the Discovery Channel Magazine caught my eye. "Food Security: Beyond Wastage and Want - Fixing our Food System" it read.

I haven't even finished reading the 12 page article yet but there was a very sobering fact included in it's introduction.

"The hunger of 800 million happens at the same time as another historical first - that they are outnumbered by the one billion people on this planet who are overweight"

So this devastating hunger is occurring "at a time when we as a planet produce enough food globally for all of them"

The world is indeed a very crazy place. I'm just trying my best to figure out when it comes to statistics like these what changes in my life I can make that might do something about it.
